Fused zirconia mullite is a kind of high purity refractory material, which is produced by melting high purity zirconia and alumina according to the relevant proportion in electric arc furnace, then cooling. Fused zirconia mullite is characterized by good homogenization, low porosity, good thermal conductivity, low thermal expansion coefficient and good slag resistance.
It is idea material for producing high grade refractory products, such as zirconia-based slide plate, stopper, long nozzle and sliding gate nozzle. When zirconia mullite is used as aggregate in these products, their thermal shock resistance and corrosion resistance are improved by crystal phase transition of zirconia in zirconia mullite at about 1000-12000° C with 7%-9% volume shrinkage and microwaves formation in crystal grain.
