XJet, a provider of industry-leading high-definition 3D printing solutions, announced that at this year’s Formnext 2022, the focus will be on highlighting its metal and ceramic AM solutions portfolio. It will demonstrate how manufacturers can achieve automated, environmentally friendly, and scalable additive manufacturing of high-definition metal and ceramic parts.
XJet’s Carmel 1400 solution employs proprietary NanoParticle Jetting™ (NPJ) powderless technology to achieve industry-leading native quality and design complexity, addressing industry challenges across multiple industries. Three green and automated steps in metal and ceramic manufacturing, from file to final part production, set new standards in the expanding metal AM market.
XJet will have its Carmel 1400M AM system running live on stand C01all 12.0 at Formnext, alongside its SMART Station for automated soluble support removal, offering the best part quality, surface, accuracy, and detail on the market, with no post-machining and superior capability for producing complex parts.
Azoth, an XJet metal system user, will be present on the stand throughout the show, sharing the team’s practical experience and knowledge of working with XJet’s metal AM solution.

The Carmel 1400M system allows us to go from small volume to full scale manufacturing on the same system, without having to adapt the equipment in the transition to manufacturing.”
Yair Alcobi, XJet CEO asserted, “As crowded at the metal AM sector is, XJet technology has something truly unique to offer the market. Sharp angles, overhangs, internal cavities are still often difficult to achieve with other technologies, but because of our unique soluble support material and automated support removal with the SMART Station, these features are no problem for XJet and can be produced repeatedly, reliably and on an industrial scale. Our unique use of material jetting and nanoparticles means we get significantly finer detail, improved surface finish and thinner walls than any other metal or ceramic AM technologies.”
XJet’s process uses nanoparticles and significantly less binder, allowing it to achieve superior material density and lower sintering temperatures by around 15% for stainless steel, saving energy and resulting in less shrinkage and deformations as the process moves away from the melting point of the metal. Furthermore, the use of sealed cartridges for materials makes the Carmel 1400M simple to operate and safe to use.
XJet will also showcase the next developments in its material range, which currently includes 316L stainless steel and zirconia and alumina in its ceramic range. Visitors can see all of the latest applications for these materials in the various displays on the stand and are invited to take part in XJet’s famous ‘sensational tour.’
